Public spaces require constant maintenance, carried out by an army of specialists whose work determines the quality of our environment. Gardeners, sanitation workers, network technicians and many others make our cities pleasant — and it is their absence we notice when the public space deteriorates. Yet despite their red, green, yellow or fluorescent jackets — designed first for safety — we barely see them. Their bright colours signal their presence without ever attracting attention. This series pays homage to these “anonymous colours”, to these discreet yet essential presences whose daily work silently shapes the places where we live.
